Thomas William HiddlestonΒ (born 9 February 1981)Β is an English actor. He gained international fame portrayingΒ LokiΒ in theΒ Marvel Cinematic UniverseΒ (MCU), beginning withΒ ThorΒ in 2011 and including theΒ Disney+Β seriesΒ LokiΒ (2021β2023).
Hiddleston started his film career withΒ Joanna Hogg's filmsΒ UnrelatedΒ (2007) andΒ Archipelago (2010). In 2011, Hiddleston portrayedΒ F. Scott FitzgeraldΒ inΒ Woody Allen's romantic comedyΒ Midnight in Paris and appeared inΒ Steven Spielberg'sΒ War Horse.Β That year, he was nominated for theΒ BAFTA Rising Star Award. He continued working with auteurs in independent films, includingΒ Terence Davies' dramaΒ The Deep Blue SeaΒ (2012),Β Jim Jarmusch's vampire filmΒ Only Lovers Left AliveΒ (2013) andΒ Guillermo del Toro's horror filmΒ Crimson PeakΒ (2015). He won theΒ Laurence Olivier Award for Best Newcomer in a PlayΒ for his role inΒ Cymbeline. He was nominated for the same award for his role asΒ CassioΒ inΒ OthelloΒ (2008). Hiddleston starred as the title character in a production ofΒ CoriolanusΒ (2013β2014), receiving a nomination for theΒ Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor. He made hisΒ BroadwayΒ debut in a 2019 revival ofΒ Harold Pinter's dramaΒ Betrayal, for which he was nominated for theΒ Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play.
