Biography
Suzanne ShepherdΒ was an American actress and theater director. She is best known for her portrayal of Karen's overbearing mother in the filmΒ Goodfellas,Β Carmela Soprano's motherΒ Mary De AngelisΒ in theΒ HBOΒ television seriesΒ The Sopranos, and the assistant school principal inΒ Uncle Buck. Shepherd studied acting withΒ Sanford Meisner, and later went on to teach Meisner's program of acting study, the first woman to do so.Β She was a founding member of theΒ Compass PlayersΒ in the early 1960s, along with such other actors asΒ Alan AldaΒ andΒ Alan Arkin.
