Steven KnightΒ (born 5 August 1959) is a British screenwriter, producer, and director for film and television. He wrote the screenplays for the filmsΒ Closed Circuit,Β Dirty Pretty Things, andΒ Eastern Promises. Also, he wrote and directed the filmsΒ LockeΒ andΒ HummingbirdΒ (a.k.a.Β Redemption). In July 2025, it was announced that he would write the 26th officialΒ James BondΒ film, to be directed byΒ Denis Villeneuve.
Knight is one of three creators ofΒ Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, a game show that has been remade and aired in around 160 countries worldwide. He is also the creator of theΒ BBC'sΒ Peaky BlindersΒ andΒ SAS: Rogue Heroes, and has written forΒ Commercial Breakdown,Β The Detectives,Β See, andΒ Taboo.
He has built a large film and television studio complex in inner-cityΒ BirminghamΒ called Digbeth Loc., opened in 2024.
