Stephen SommersΒ (born March 20, 1962) is an American film director, screenwriter and producer, best known for big-budget action films, such asΒ The MummyΒ (1999), its sequel,Β The Mummy ReturnsΒ (2001),Β Van HelsingΒ (2004), andΒ G.I. Joe: The Rise of CobraΒ (2009). He also directedΒ The Adventures of Huck FinnΒ (1993), Disney's first live-action version ofΒ Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle BookΒ (1994), and the action-horror filmΒ Deep Rising (1998).
