Song Kang-hoΒ (Korean:Β μ‘κ°νΈ; born 17 January 1967) is a South Korean actor. Regarded as one of the most influential actors inΒ Korean cinema, he has appeared in critically acclaimed films across various genres. He is the recipient of numerous accolades, including aΒ Cannes Film Festival Award, threeΒ Baeksang Arts Awards, fourΒ Blue Dragon Film Awards, and fiveΒ Grand Bell Awards. In 2020,Β The New York TimesΒ named him one of the greatest actors of the 21st century.
Song first gained recognition with the crime thrillerΒ No. 3Β (1997), and later rose to prominence withΒ Park Chan-wook's critically acclaimed filmΒ Joint Security AreaΒ (2000). He is known for his collaborations with filmmakerΒ Bong Joon-hoΒ inΒ Memories of MurderΒ (2003),Β The HostΒ (2006),Β SnowpiercerΒ (2013), andΒ ParasiteΒ (2019).
