Shawn Adam LevyΒ (/ΛliΛvaΙͺ/; born July 23, 1968) is a Canadian filmmaker and actor. He is the founder ofΒ 21 Laps Entertainment. His work has spanned numerous genres, and his films as a director have grossed $3.5 billion worldwide.
Following early work as a television director, Levy gained recognition in the 2000s for directing comedy films likeΒ Big Fat LiarΒ (2002),Β Just Married (2003),Β Cheaper by the DozenΒ (2003) andΒ The Pink PantherΒ (2006). He then found further success as the director of the first three films in theΒ Night at the MuseumΒ film franchise (2006β14). In the early 2010s, he directed films includingΒ Date NightΒ (2010),Β Real SteelΒ (2011), andΒ The InternshipΒ (2013), and developed several comedyΒ television pilots. Executive produced theΒ ABC sitcomΒ Last Man Standing. Levy produced the 2016 sci-fi filmΒ Arrival, earning him anΒ Academy AwardΒ nomination forΒ Best Picture.
Since 2016, Levy has been an executive producer on theΒ Netflix original seriesΒ Stranger Things.Β He has directed the third and fourth episodes of each of the show's four seasons and the Netflix limited seriesΒ All the Light We CanNot See (2023). Levy has recently collaborated withΒ Ryan ReynoldsΒ by directingΒ Free GuyΒ (2021),Β The Adam ProjectΒ (2022), andΒ Deadpool & WolverineΒ (2024), with the latter emerging as his highest-grossing film and the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
