Scott Eric NeustadterΒ (/njuːˈstΓ¦tΙ™r/;Β born 1977) is an AmericanΒ screenwriterΒ andΒ producer. He often works with his writing partner,Β Michael H. Weber. The two writers are best known for writing the screenplay for the romantic comedy filmΒ 500 Days of Summer. The film is based on two real relationships Neustadter had.Β They also wrote the screenplays for the film adaptations of the novelsΒ The Spectacular Now,Β The Fault in Our Stars, andΒ Paper Towns.

For writingΒ The Disaster Artist, Neustadter and Weber were nominated for anΒ Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. They also created Friends with Benefits, which lasted one season.

Neustadter was born and raised in aΒ familyΒ inΒ Margate City, New Jersey, the son of Anne (nΓ©e Goldberg) and Michael J. Neustadter.Β He attendedΒ Atlantic City High SchoolΒ and the University of Pennsylvania. He completed graduate studies atΒ The London School of EconomicsΒ andΒ The University of Southern California.

At age 25, Neustadter moved to study inΒ Los Angeles,Β California, and shortly thereafter moved toΒ Santa Monica, where he currently resides.

Neustadter and Weber wrote the script forΒ The Disaster ArtistΒ (2017), the adaptation ofΒ the book of the same name.Β They also wroteΒ Our Souls at Night, an adaptation ofΒ Kent Haruf's final novel of the same name, forΒ Netflix, withΒ Robert RedfordΒ andΒ Jane FondaΒ playing the lead roles, the first movie they have made together since 1979'sΒ The Electric Horseman.

They are adaptingΒ The Rosie Project.

Neustadter has been married to Lauren Rachelle Levy since October 9, 2010.Β The couple has one son and one daughter.
