Primarily known forΒ her workΒ inΒ period dramasΒ since adolescence, she has receivedΒ various accolades, including aΒ Golden Globe Award and nominations for fourΒ Academy AwardsΒ and sevenΒ British Academy Film Awards.
Ronan made her acting debut in 2003 on the Irish medical drama seriesΒ The ClinicΒ and had her breakthrough role as a precocious teenager in the period drama filmΒ AtonementΒ (2007), which earned her a nomination for theΒ Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
