Rodney Rothman (born January 1, 1974)Β is an American filmmaker and author. He is known for his work onΒ Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseΒ (2018) (which served as his feature directorial debut),Β Popstar: Never Stop Never StoppingΒ (2016),Β 22 Jump StreetΒ (2014),Β Forgetting Sarah MarshallΒ (2008), andΒ Get Him to the GreekΒ (2010), as well as being part of the writing staff of the showsΒ The 67 MovieΒ andΒ Late Show with David Letterman. He has been nominated for fiveΒ Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.
Rothman is the author of the best-selling nonfiction humour bookΒ Early Bird: A Memoir of Premature Retirement. His writing has also appeared inΒ The New Yorker,Β GQ,Β The New York Times,Β The New York Times Magazine, andΒ McSweeney's Quarterly. His piece "My Fake Job" was included inΒ The Best American Nonrequired Reading. He has also written for other books, Such as Camp Camp by Rodger Bennet.
His work onΒ Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseΒ earned him theΒ Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, theΒ Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature FilmΒ andΒ Annie Awards forΒ DirectingΒ andΒ Writing in a Feature Production.
