Richard MaddenΒ (born 18 June 1986) is a Scottish actor. He was cast in his first role at age 11 and made his screen acting debut in 2000. He later began performing on stage whilst a student at theΒ Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2007, he toured withΒ Shakespeare's GlobeΒ company asΒ RomeoΒ inΒ Romeo and Juliet, a role he reprised in theΒ West EndΒ in 2016. Madden rose to fame by portrayingΒ Robb StarkΒ in the fantasy drama seriesΒ Game of ThronesΒ from 2011 to 2013.
Madden subsequently playedΒ Prince KitΒ in the romantic fantasy filmΒ CinderellaΒ (2015) and Italian bankerΒ Cosimo de' MediciΒ in the first season of the historical fiction seriesΒ MediciΒ (2016). In 2018, he gained acclaim for his performance as a police officer in the thriller seriesΒ Bodyguard, for which he won aΒ Golden Globe Award. The following year, Madden was named one of theΒ 100 most influential people in the worldΒ byΒ Time. He had supporting roles as music managerΒ John ReidΒ in the biopicΒ RocketmanΒ and Lieutenant Blake in the war filmΒ 1917. He has since starred asΒ IkarisΒ in theΒ Marvel Cinematic UniverseΒ superhero filmΒ EternalsΒ (2021) and as a spy in the action thriller Β CitadelΒ (2023βpresent).
