Rachel Hannah WeiszΒ (/vaΙͺs/;Β born 7 March 1970)Β is an English actress. Known for her roles in independent films and blockbusters, she has receivedΒ several awards, including anΒ Academy Award, aΒ BAFTA Award, aΒ Golden Globe Award, and aΒ Laurence Olivier Award.

Weisz began acting in stage and television productions in the early 1990s and made her film debut inΒ Death MachineΒ (1994). She won aΒ Critics' Circle Theatre AwardΒ for her role in the 1994 revival ofΒ NoΓ«l Coward's playΒ Design for Living. She went on to appear in the 1999Β Donmar WarehouseΒ production ofΒ Tennessee Williams' dramaΒ Suddenly Last Summer. Her film breakthrough came with her starring role asΒ Evelyn CarnahanΒ in the Hollywood action filmsΒ The MummyΒ (1999) andΒ The Mummy Returns(2001).
