Peter John FarrellyΒ (born December 17, 1956) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer and novelist. Along with his brotherΒ Bobby, theΒ Farrelly brothersΒ are best known for directing and producing quirky andΒ romantic comedyΒ filmsΒ such asΒ Dumb and Dumber,Β Shallow Hal,Β Me, Myself and Irene,Β There's Something About Mary, andΒ the 2007 remake ofΒ The Heartbreak Kid.

Farrelly solo-directed and co-wrote the comedy-dramaΒ Green BookΒ (2018), which won the Audience Award at theΒ Toronto International Film FestivalΒ in 2018,Β theΒ Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay, and theΒ Academy AwardsΒ forΒ Best PictureΒ andΒ Best Original Screenplay.
