PaweΕ Aleksander PawlikowskiΒ (Polish:Β [ΛpavΙwalΙΛksandΙrΒ pavliΛkΙfskΚ²i]; born 15 September 1957) is a Polish filmmaker. He garnered early praise for a string of documentaries in the 1990s and for his award-winning feature films of the 2000s,Β Last ResortΒ (2000) andΒ My Summer of LoveΒ (2004). His success continued into the 2010s withΒ Ida (2013), which won theΒ Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, andΒ Cold WarΒ (2018), for which Pawlikowski won theΒ Best DirectorΒ prize at theΒ Cannes Film FestivalΒ and was nominated for theΒ Academy Award for Best Director, while the film received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
