Lin-Manuel MirandaΒ (/mΓ¦nˈwΙ›l/; born January 16, 1980)Β is an American songwriter, actor, singer, filmmaker, rapper, andΒ librettist. He created the Broadway musicalsΒ In the HeightsΒ andΒ Hamilton and the soundtracks for the animated filmsΒ Moana,Β Vivo, andΒ Encanto. He has receivedΒ numerous accolades, including aΒ Pulitzer Prize for Drama, threeΒ Tony Awards, twoΒ Laurence Olivier Awards, twoΒ Emmy Awards, and fiveΒ Grammy Awards, and nominations for twoΒ Academy Awards. He received theΒ Kennedy Centre HonourΒ in 2018.

Miranda made his Broadway debut in 2008, writing the music and lyrics for and starring in the musicalΒ In the Heights, which won theΒ Tony Award forΒ Best MusicalΒ andΒ Best Original Score and theΒ Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.Β It was later adapted as aΒ 2021 filmΒ of the same name.
