Kirsten Caroline DunstΒ (/ΛkΙͺΙrstΙn/Β KEER-stΙn; born April 30, 1982) is an American actress. She made her acting debut in the anthology filmΒ New York StoriesΒ (1989) and has since starred inΒ several films and television productions. She has receivedΒ several awards, including nominations for anΒ Academy Award, aΒ Primetime Emmy Award, and fourΒ Golden Globe Awards.
Dunst first gained recognition for her role as child vampireΒ ClaudiaΒ in the horror filmΒ Interview with the VampireΒ (1994), which earned her aΒ Golden GlobeΒ nomination forΒ Best Supporting Actress. She also had roles in her youth inΒ Little WomenΒ (1994) andΒ JumanjiΒ (1995). Dunst transitioned to leading roles inΒ teen filmsΒ of 1999, the satiresΒ DickΒ andΒ Drop Dead GorgeousΒ andΒ Sofia Coppola's dramaΒ The Virgin Suicides. After the leading role in the cheerleading filmΒ Bring It OnΒ (2000), she gained wider attention for her role asΒ Mary Jane WatsonΒ inΒ Sam Raimi'sΒ Spider-ManΒ trilogyΒ (2002β2007). In 2015, she playedΒ Peggy BlumquistΒ in the second season of theΒ FXΒ seriesΒ Fargo, earning aΒ Primetime Emmy AwardΒ nomination for the role. Dunst had a supporting role in the filmΒ Hidden FiguresΒ (2016), and leading roles in Coppola'sΒ The BeguiledΒ (2017) and in the dark comedy seriesΒ On Becoming a God in Central FloridaΒ (2019), for which she received a third Golden Globe nomination. Dunst earned her fourth nomination for a Golden Globe and first nomination for anΒ Academy AwardΒ for her performance in the psychological dramaΒ The Power of the DogΒ (2021). In 2024, she led the dystopian thriller filmΒ Civil War.
