Kelly MarcelΒ (born 10 January 1974) is an English filmmaker and former actress.Β
After working as a child actor in the United Kingdom, Marcel had her breakout as a screenwriter in Hollywood when her script forΒ Saving Mr. BanksΒ made the 2011Β Black ListΒ and was quickly acquired byΒ Disney, which released the film in 2013. She is also known for writingΒ the 2015 film adaptationΒ ofΒ E. L. James'Β Fifty Shades of GreyΒ and theΒ Sony's Spider-Man UniverseΒ filmΒ VenomΒ (2018) as well as its sequelsΒ Venom: Let There Be CarnageΒ (2021) andΒ Venom: The Last DanceΒ (2024), the latter of which she directed in her directorial debut.Β
Marcel also created and served as executive producer of the television seriesΒ Terra NovaΒ (2011) andΒ The ChangelingΒ (2023), for which she was the showrunner and wrote eight episodes.
