Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-DreyfusΒ (/ΛluΛiΛdraΙͺfΙs/Β LOO-eeΒ DRY-fΙs; born January 13, 1961) is an American actress, comedian, and producer. She is known for her roles in a string of successful comedy series and several comedy films. She has receivedΒ numerous accolades, including 11Β Primetime Emmy Awards, aΒ Golden Globe Award, and nineΒ Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The daughter of French billionaireΒ GΓ©rard Louis-Dreyfus, she entered comedy as a performer with theΒ Practical Theatre Company. She was a cast member on theΒ sketch comedyΒ seriesΒ Saturday Night LiveΒ from 1982 to 1985. Her breakthrough came playingΒ Elaine BenesΒ on theΒ NBCΒ sitcomSeinfeldΒ (1990β1998), one of the most successful sitcoms in television history.
