John Edmund MulaneyΒ (born August 26, 1982) is an AmericanΒ stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer. Born and raised inΒ Chicago,Β Illinois, Mulaney first rose to prominence for his work as a writer for theΒ NBCΒ sketch comedy seriesΒ Saturday Night LiveΒ from 2008 to 2013, where he contributed to numerousΒ sketchesΒ andΒ characters, includingΒ Stefon, a recurring character that he andΒ Bill HaderΒ co-created. Since he departed fromΒ SNL, Mulaney has hosted it six times, becoming a member of theΒ SNLΒ Five Timers ClubΒ in 2022.

Mulaney's stand-up specials includeΒ The Top Part(2009),Β New in TownΒ (2012),Β The Comeback Kid (2015),Β Kid GorgeousΒ (2018), andΒ Baby JΒ (2023). He won twoΒ Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety SpecialΒ forΒ Kid Gorgeous, andΒ Baby J.Β Mulaney released a children's musical comedy special onΒ Netflix,Β John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch BunchΒ (2019).

He was the creator and star of the short-lived semi-autobiographicalΒ FoxΒ sitcomΒ Mulaney (2014–2015). Mulaney also performs George St. Geegland in a comedic duo withΒ Nick Kroll, and they appeared on television and onΒ BroadwayΒ in the showΒ Oh, Hello on BroadwayΒ (2016–2017). Mulaney is a co-executive producer, writer, and occasional actor in theΒ IFC mockumentaryΒ seriesΒ Documentary Now!Β (2015–2022). He hosted, created, and executive produced theΒ NetflixΒ talk showΒ John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in LAΒ (2024) and its spinoffΒ Everybody's Live with John Mulaney(2025).
