He is known for his work as a screenwriter for films such asΒ Ridley Scott'sΒ GladiatorΒ (2000),Β Martin Scorsese'sΒ The Aviator (2004) andΒ HugoΒ (2011),Β Tim Burton'sΒ Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet StreetΒ (2007) andΒ Sam Mendes'Β James BondΒ filmsΒ Skyfall (2012), andΒ SpectreΒ (2015). He has been nominated three times forΒ Academy Awards, and has won aΒ Tony AwardΒ and aΒ Golden Globe Award.
