Joe RussoΒ (born July 18, 1971) is an American filmmaker with his brother, Anthony Russo, collectively known as theΒ Russo brothersΒ (/ΛruΛsoΚ/Β ROO-soh). They direct most of their work together. They are best known for directing four films in theΒ Marvel Cinematic UniverseΒ (MCU):Β Captain America: The Winter SoldierΒ (2014),Β Captain America: Civil War(2016),Β Avengers: Infinity WarΒ (2018), andΒ Avengers: EndgameΒ (2019).Β EndgameΒ grossed over $2.798Β billion worldwide, briefly becoming theΒ highest-grossing film ever.Β
The brothers have also worked as directors and producers on the comedy seriesΒ Arrested DevelopmentΒ (2003β2005),Β CommunityΒ (2009β2014), andΒ Happy EndingsΒ (2011β2012). They won aΒ Primetime Emmy AwardΒ forΒ Arrested Development.
