Jodie Marie ComerΒ (/ΛkoΚmΙr/Β KOH-mΙr; born 11 March 1993)Β is an English actress of screen and stage. She began her career in an episode ofΒ The Royal TodayΒ in 2008. Comer gained recognition for appearing in the seriesΒ My Mad Fat DiaryΒ (2013β2015) andΒ Doctor FosterΒ (2015β2017) and starred in the drama miniseriesΒ ThirteenΒ (2016). From 2018 to 2022, Comer played sociopathic assassinΒ VillanelleΒ in theΒ BBC AmericaΒ spy thriller television seriesΒ Killing Eve, winning aΒ BAFTA Television AwardΒ and aΒ Primetime Emmy Award. For playing Sarah, a healthcare assistant, in the television filmΒ Help (2021), she won another BAFTA Television Award.
Comer expanded to films in 2021 with main roles in the action comedy filmΒ Free GuyΒ and historical dramaΒ The Last Duel. In 2022, she made herΒ West End theatreΒ debut inΒ Suzie Miller's one-woman playΒ Prima Facie, which earned her anΒ Evening Standard Theatre AwardΒ and aΒ Laurence Olivier Award. Following its transfer toΒ Broadway in 2023, she won aΒ Tony Award.
