Jeffrey Jacob AbramsΒ (born June 27, 1966)Β is an American filmmaker and composer. He is best known for his works in the genres ofΒ action,Β drama, andΒ science fiction. Abrams wrote and produced films such asΒ Regarding Henry (1991),Β Forever Young (1992),Β Armageddon (1998),Β CloverfieldΒ (2008),Β Star Trek (2009),Β Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), andΒ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). Abrams' films have grossed over $4 billion worldwide, making him theΒ tenth-highest-grossing film director of all time.
Abrams has created numerous television series, includingΒ FelicityΒ (co-creator, 1998β2002),Β Alias(creator, 2001β2006),Β LostΒ (co-creator, 2004β2010), andΒ FringeΒ (co-creator, 2008β2013). He won twoΒ Emmy AwardsΒ forΒ LostΒ βΒ Outstanding Directing for a Drama SeriesΒ andΒ Outstanding Drama Series.
His directorial film work includesΒ Mission: Impossible IIIΒ (2006),Β Star TrekΒ (2009),Β Super 8(2011), andΒ Star Trek Into DarknessΒ (2013). He also directed, co-produced, and co-wroteΒ The Force Awakens, the seventh episode of theΒ Star WarsΒ Skywalker SagaΒ and the first film of theΒ sequel trilogy. The film is his highest-grossing, theΒ fifth-highest-grossing film of all time not adjusted for inflation, as well as theΒ most expensive film ever made.
