Jemaine Atea Mahana ClementΒ (born 10 January 1974)Β is a New ZealandΒ actor,Β comedian,Β musician, andΒ filmmaker. He has released several albums withΒ Bret McKenzieΒ as the musical comedy duoΒ Flight of the Conchords and created a comedy TV series titledΒ Flight of the ConchordsΒ for both theΒ BBCΒ andΒ HBO, for which he received sixΒ Primetime Emmy nominations.
He has had featured parts in films such asΒ Eagle vs SharkΒ (2007),Β Gentlemen BroncosΒ (2009),Β Men in Black 3Β (2012),Β People Places Things(2015),Β Humor MeΒ (2017),Β The FestivalΒ (2018) andΒ Avatar: The Way of WaterΒ (2022). He has also done voice work forΒ Despicable MeΒ (2010),Β RioΒ (2011), Rio 2Β (2014),Β MoanaΒ (2016) andΒ The Lego Batman MovieΒ (2017). In 2014, he made his directorial debut withΒ What We Do in the Shadows, which he co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in withΒ Taika Waititi and later adapted into a show for the FX television seriesΒ What We Do in the Shadows.
