Jacqueline Ruth WeaverΒ AOΒ (born 25 May 1947) is an Australian theatre, film, and television actress.Β Her accoladesΒ include fiveΒ AACTA Awards(including theΒ Longford Lyell Award), aΒ National Board of Review Award, and nominations for twoΒ Academy AwardsΒ and aΒ Golden Globe Award.
Weaver emerged in the 1970s during theΒ Australian New WaveΒ through her work inΒ OzploitationΒ films such asΒ StorkΒ (1971),Β Alvin PurpleΒ (1973), andΒ PetersenΒ (1974). She later starred inΒ Picnic at Hanging RockΒ (1975),Β Caddie (1976),Β Squizzy TaylorΒ (1982), and several television films and miniseries. She also starred in Australian productions of plays such asΒ Death of a SalesmanΒ andΒ A Streetcar Named Desire.
Weaver received international attention and nominations for theΒ Academy Award for Best Supporting ActressΒ for her performances in the crime filmΒ Animal KingdomΒ (2010) and the comedy-drama filmΒ Silver Linings PlaybookΒ (2012), the former of which also earned her theΒ National Board of Review Award.
