Hossein AminiΒ (Persian:Β ΨΨ³ΫΩ Ψ§Ω
ΫΩΫ; born 18 January 1966) is an Iranian-born BritishΒ screenwriterΒ andΒ film directorΒ who has worked as a screenwriter since the early 1990s. He was nominated for numerous awards for the 1997 filmΒ The Wings of the Dove, including anΒ Academy Award for Best Writing β Adapted Screenplay. He also won a "Best Adapted Screenplay" award from theΒ Austin Film Critics AssociationΒ for his screenplay adaptation ofΒ Nicolas Winding Refn'sΒ DriveΒ (2011), based on the novel byΒ James Sallis. For his directorial debut, he wrote and directedΒ The Two Faces of January, an adaptation of theΒ Patricia HighsmithΒ novel.
