Gael GarcΓa BernalΒ (Spanish:Β [Ι‘aΛelΒ Ι£aΙΎΛsi.aΞ²eΙΎΛnal]; born 30 November 1978) is a Mexican actor and filmmaker. He is known for his performances in the filmsΒ Amores perrosΒ (2000),Β Y tu mamΓ‘ tambiΓ©nΒ (2001),Β Bad EducationΒ (2004),Β The Motorcycle DiariesΒ (2004),Β BabelΒ (2006),Β Coco (2017),Β OldΒ (2021), andΒ CassandroΒ (2023). He has also played music conductor Rodrigo de Souza in the television drama seriesΒ Mozart in the Jungle (2014β2018) and starred in theΒ Disney+ specialΒ Werewolf by NightΒ (2022).
GarcΓa Bernal was nominated for aΒ BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading RoleΒ for his portrayal of a youngΒ Che GuevaraΒ inΒ The Motorcycle DiariesΒ in 2005, and in 2016 won his firstΒ Golden Globe Award for Best Actor β Television Series Musical or ComedyΒ forΒ Mozart in the Jungle.
