Erin Cressida WilsonΒ (born February 12, 1964) is an AmericanΒ playwright,Β screenwriter,Β professor, andΒ author.

Wilson is known for the 2002 filmΒ Secretary, which she adapted from a short story by Mary Gaitskill. It won her theΒ Independent Spirit Award for Best First ScreenplayΒ and received critical acclaim. She also wrote the screenplays for the 2006 filmΒ Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, starringΒ Nicole Kidman; for the 2009 erotic thrillerΒ Chloe, directed byΒ Atom EgoyanΒ (remake of the 2003 French filmΒ Nathalie...); for the 2014 dramaΒ Men, Women & Children, co-written with its directorΒ Jason ReitmanΒ (from the novel byΒ Chad Kultgen); and the 2016 mystery thrillerΒ The Girl on the Train, from theΒ Paula HawkinsΒ novel of the same name. The latter is her highest-grossing film to date.Β She was also a writer-producer on theΒ HBOΒ seriesΒ Vinyl.

Wilson has also authored dozens of plays and short works. She has taught atΒ Duke University, Brown University,Β and theΒ University of California, Santa Barbara.
