Emerald Lilly FennellΒ (born 1 October 1985)Β is an English actress, filmmaker, and writer. She has received numerous accolades, including anΒ Academy Award, twoΒ BAFTA Awards, and nominations for threeΒ Primetime Emmy AwardsΒ and threeΒ Golden Globe Awards.
Fennell first gained attention for her roles in period films, such asΒ Albert NobbsΒ (2011),Β Β Anna KareninaΒ (2012), andΒ The Danish GirlΒ (2015). She gained prominence for her starring role in theΒ BBC OneΒ drama seriesΒ Call the Midwife (2013β2017) and for her portrayal ofΒ Camilla Parker-BowlesΒ in theΒ NetflixΒ drama seriesΒ The CrownΒ (2019β2020), the latter of which garnered her aΒ Primetime Emmy AwardΒ nomination.
As a writer-director, Fennell is known as theΒ showrunnerΒ for season two of theΒ BBCΒ spy thriller seriesΒ Killing EveΒ (2019), which earned her twoΒ Primetime Emmy AwardΒ nominations.
