Mary Elle FanningΒ (born April 9, 1998)Β is an American actress. As a child, she made her film debut as the younger version of her sisterΒ Dakota Fanning's character in the drama filmΒ I Am SamΒ (2001). She appeared in several other films as a child actress, includingΒ Daddy Day CareΒ (2003),Β BabelΒ (2006),Β The Curious Case of Benjamin Button andΒ Phoebe in WonderlandΒ (both 2008), and the miniseriesΒ The Lost RoomΒ (2006). She then had leading roles inΒ Sofia Coppola's dramaΒ SomewhereΒ (2010) andΒ J. J. Abrams' science fiction filmΒ Super 8Β (2011).
