Edward BergerΒ (German:Β [ΛedvartΒ ΛbΙΚΙ‘Ι]; born 1970) is a German-born director and screenwriter who holdsΒ SwissΒ andΒ Austrian citizenship. He is known for the German filmsΒ Jack (2014),Β All My LovingΒ (2019), andΒ All Quiet on the Western FrontΒ (2022), as well as his English-language debutΒ ConclaveΒ (2024). He also directed several television series, includingΒ Deutschland 83 (2015) andΒ Patrick MelroseΒ (2018).Β
ForΒ All Quiet on the Western Front,Β Berger accepted anΒ Academy AwardΒ forΒ Best International Film, was nominated forΒ Best Adapted Screenplay, and won threeΒ British Academy Film Awards. For Conclave, Berger also received several accolades, including his firstΒ Golden GlobeΒ nomination for Best Director and aΒ British Academy Film AwardΒ forΒ Outstanding British Film.
