Γdgar Filiberto RamΓrez ArellanoΒ (Spanish pronunciation:Β [ΛeΓ°Ι£aΙΎΒ raΛmiΙΎes], born 25 March 1977) is aΒ VenezuelanΒ actor.
After studying communications at theΒ AndrΓ©s Bello Catholic University, RamΓrez worked in media and considered becoming a diplomat. When filmmakerΒ Guillermo ArriagaΒ praised a short film he had done, he decided to pursue his performing hobby as a career.Β
RamΓrez played a CIA assassin in the action-thriller filmΒ The Bourne UltimatumΒ (2007). His portrayal ofΒ Carlos the JackalΒ in the 2010 biopic television miniseriesΒ CarlosΒ won him theΒ CΓ©sar Award for Most Promising ActorΒ and nominations for aΒ Golden GlobeΒ andΒ Emmy AwardΒ for Best Actor. He then played a CIA operative inΒ Zero Dark ThirtyΒ (2012), and boxerΒ Roberto DurΓ‘nΒ in the biographical sports filmΒ Hands of StoneΒ (2016).Β
RamΓrez received several accolades for his portrayal ofΒ Gianni VersaceΒ in the 2018 miniseriesΒ The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. In 2020, he had a recurring role in theΒ HBOΒ miniseriesΒ The Undoing. In 2022, RamΓrez was part of theΒ Un Certain RegardΒ jury at theΒ Cannes Film Festival.
