Dexter FletcherΒ OBEΒ (born 31 January 1966) is an English film director and actor. He has appeared inΒ Guy Ritchie'sΒ Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, as well as in television shows such as theΒ comedy dramaΒ Hotel BabylonΒ and theΒ HBOΒ seriesΒ Band of BrothersΒ and, earlier in his career, starred as Spike Thomson in the comedy dramaΒ Press Gang. His earliest acting role was in the 1973 comedy drama filmΒ Steptoe and Son Ride Again.Β
Fletcher made his directorial debut withΒ Wild Bill (2011), and also directedΒ Sunshine on LeithΒ (2013) andΒ Eddie the EagleΒ (2015). He replacedΒ Bryan SingerΒ as director ofΒ Bohemian Rhapsody, a biopic about the bandΒ Queen, released in October 2018; due toΒ DGAΒ rules, he received executive producer credit. In 2019, he directedΒ Rocketman, aΒ biographical filmΒ based on the life and music of performerΒ Elton John.
