Carey Hannah MulliganΒ (born 28 May 1985) is an English actress. She has receivedΒ various accolades, including aΒ British Academy Film Award, in addition to nominations for threeΒ Academy Awards, fourΒ Golden Globe Awards, and aΒ Tony Award. She was appointedΒ Commander of the Order of the British EmpireΒ (CBE) in 2025 for services to drama.

She made her film debut with a supporting role inΒ Joe Wright's romantic dramaΒ Pride & Prejudice (2005), followed by diverse roles in television, including the drama seriesΒ Bleak HouseΒ (2005), and the television filmΒ Northanger AbbeyΒ (2007). Mulligan's breakthrough role came as a 1960s schoolgirl in the coming-of-age filmΒ An Education (2009), for which she won theΒ BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading RoleΒ and received anΒ Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.Β 

Mulligan received further Academy Award nominations for her performances in the black comedyΒ Promising Young WomanΒ (2020) and the biopicΒ MaestroΒ (2023).
