Camryn Manheim (born Debra Frances Manheim, March 8, 1961) is an American actress known for her roles as attorneyΒ Ellenor FruttΒ onΒ ABC'sΒ The Practice,Β Delia BanksΒ onΒ CBS'sΒ Ghost Whisperer, Gladys Presley in the 2005 miniseriesΒ Elvis, and "Control" onΒ Person of Interest.
In 1999, she won theΒ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama SeriesΒ for her work onΒ The Practice, and she was awarded theΒ Women in FilmΒ Lucy Award. In 2005, she earnedΒ Golden Globe andΒ EmmyΒ nominations for her work in the miniseriesΒ Elvis.
Her breakthrough was her one-woman show "Wake Up, I'm Fat", which playedΒ off-BroadwayΒ atΒ Classic Stage CompanyΒ in 1994.Β She adapted the show into a book of the same name, which was published byΒ Broadway BooksΒ in 1999.
She worked for a while as aΒ sign languageΒ interpreter at hospitals.Β Her knowledge of sign language was used onΒ The Practice, in an episode ofΒ Law & Order, and in her role as a child behavioral psychologist in the movieΒ Mercury Rising.
In 2015, Manheim was in the Deaf West production of the musicalΒ Spring AwakeningΒ as Adult Women. The production, which had a cast composed half of hearing actors and half of deaf or hard-of-hearing actors, paired every deaf actor (who signed their lines inΒ American Sign Language) with a hearing actor who said their lines verbally. Manheim voiced for deaf actressΒ Marlee MatlinΒ as well as signing her own dialogue in the parts of Frau Bergmann, FrΓ€ulein GroΓebΓΌstenhalter, and FrΓ€ulein Knuppeldick.
Her other television credits includeΒ Chicago Hope,Β Ally McBeal,Β Family Guy,Β Will & Grace,Β Boston Public,Β Two and a Half Men,Β The L Word,Β How I Met Your Mother, and Hannah Montana. Since 2022, she has been part of the main cast ofΒ the revival ofΒ Law & Order.

In August 2019, she was elected secretary-treasurer of theΒ SAG-AFTRA union. Manheim was elected to the secretary-treasurer position. She did not run for reelection in 2021, and was succeeded byΒ Joely Fisher.
