Benjamin John WhishawΒ (born 14 October 1980) is an English actor. He has receivedΒ various accolades, including threeΒ British Academy Television Awards, twoΒ Emmy Awards, and aΒ Golden Globe.

Beginning his career in the 2000s, he playedΒ the title roleΒ in a 2004 production of the playΒ Hamlet. Television roles followed this inΒ Nathan BarleyΒ (2005),Β Criminal JusticeΒ (2008) andΒ The HourΒ (2011–12); and film roles inΒ Perfume: The Story of a MurdererΒ (2006),Β I'm Not ThereΒ (2007),Β Brideshead RevisitedΒ (2008), andΒ Bright Star (2009).

In 2012, Whishaw playedΒ the title roleΒ in aΒ BBC Two adaptationΒ ofΒ Richard II, for which he won theΒ British Academy Television Award for Best Actor. The same year, he appeared asΒ QΒ in theΒ James BondΒ filmΒ SkyfallΒ (2012), going on to reprise the role inΒ SpectreΒ (2015) andΒ No Time to DieΒ (2021). He has voicedΒ Paddington BearΒ in several projects sinceΒ PaddingtonΒ (2014). His other film roles in the 2010s includeΒ Cloud Atlas (2012),Β The LobsterΒ (2015),Β SuffragetteΒ (2015),Β The Danish GirlΒ (2015), andΒ Mary Poppins ReturnsΒ (2018).

Whishaw had a leading role inΒ London SpyΒ (2015). For his portrayal ofΒ Norman ScottΒ in the miniseriesΒ A Very English ScandalΒ (2018), he won aΒ BAFTA, aΒ Golden Globe AwardΒ and aΒ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor. In 2020, he had a leading role in theΒ fourth seasonΒ of the black comedy dramaΒ Fargo.
