Nora LumΒ (born June 2, 1988),Β known professionally asΒ AwkwafinaΒ (/ΛΙΛkwΙΛfiΛnΙ/), is an American actress, comedian and rapper. She rose to prominence in 2012 when her rap song "My Vag" became popular onΒ YouTube. She then released her debut album,Β Yellow RangerΒ (2014), and appeared on theΒ MTVΒ comedy seriesΒ Girl Code (2014β2015). She expanded to films with supporting roles in the comediesΒ Neighbors 2: Sorority RisingΒ (2016),Β Ocean's 8Β (2018),Β Crazy Rich AsiansΒ (2018), andΒ Jumanji: The Next LevelΒ (2019). She won a Golden Globe Award for her starring role as a grieving young woman inΒ The FarewellΒ (2019).
Since 2020, Awkwafina has been a co-creator, writer, and executive producer of theΒ Comedy CentralΒ seriesΒ Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens, where she also plays a fictionalized version of herself. In 2021, she portrayedΒ KatyΒ in theΒ Marvel Cinematic UniverseΒ superhero filmΒ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. She has also performed voice roles in the animated filmsΒ StorksΒ (2016),Β The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019),Β Raya and the Last DragonΒ (2021),Β The Bad GuysΒ (2022),Β The Little Mermaid,Β MigrationΒ (both 2023),Β Kung Fu Panda 4, andΒ IF (both 2024).
