Ana Celia de Armas CasoΒ (born 30 April 1988) is a Cuban-Spanish actress. She began her career in Cuba at age 16 with a leading role in the romantic crime dramaΒ Virgin RoseΒ (2006). At 18 she obtained her Spanish passport through her maternal grandparents, which allowed her to legally relocate to Spain to pursue acting. She moved toΒ Madrid and starred in the popular dramaΒ El InternadoΒ (2007β2010). In 2014, she moved toΒ Los Angeles and secured English-speaking roles in the psychological thrillerΒ Knock KnockΒ (2015) and the comedy-crime filmΒ War DogsΒ (2016).
De Armas rose to prominence for her roles as theΒ holographicΒ AIΒ Joi in the science fiction filmΒ Blade Runner 2049Β (2017) and nurse Marta Cabrera in the mystery filmΒ Knives OutΒ (2019), receiving a Β Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress β Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. She then playedΒ Bond girlΒ Paloma in theΒ James Bond filmΒ No Time to DieΒ (2021) and actressΒ Marilyn MonroeΒ in the biographical dramaΒ BlondeΒ (2022), for which she became the first Cuban nominated for theΒ Academy Award for Best Actress. She then led the action thrillerΒ BallerinaΒ (2025), aΒ spin-off instalment in theΒ John WickΒ franchise.
