Aaron Benjamin SorkinΒ (born June 9, 1961) is an American screenwriter, playwright and film director. Born in New York City, he developed a passion for writing early on. As a writer for stage, television, and film, Sorkin is recognised for his trademark fast-paced dialogue and extended monologues, complemented by frequent use of the "walk and talk" storytelling technique. Sorkin has earnedΒ numerous accolades, including anΒ Academy Award, aΒ BAFTA Award, fiveΒ Primetime Emmy Awards, and threeΒ Golden Globes.

Sorkin rose to prominence as a writer-creator andΒ showrunnerΒ of the television seriesΒ Sports Night (1998–2000),Β The West WingΒ (1999–2006),Β Studio 60 on the Sunset StripΒ (2006–07), andΒ The NewsroomΒ (2012–14).Β He is also known for his work onΒ Broadway, including the playsΒ A Few Good MenΒ (1989),Β The Farnsworth Invention (2007),Β To Kill a MockingbirdΒ (2018), and the revival ofΒ Lerner and Loewe's musicalΒ Camelot (2023).

He wrote the film screenplays forΒ A Few Good MenΒ (1992),Β The American PresidentΒ (1995), and severalΒ biopics, includingΒ Charlie Wilson's War (2007),Β MoneyballΒ (2011), andΒ Steve JobsΒ (2015).
